red traditional handwoven silk textile from Laos

This silk scarf has been handmade in a small family business in Vientiane Province, run by Siorn and her husband. Siorn is originally from Sam Neua in North Eastern Laos, a region with an exceptionally strong heritage of silk production and traditional Lao textiles.

Siorn plans to establish a second weaving centre in Sam Neua Province, providing a much needed source of training and skilled employment in an area still dominated by subsistence farming.
