Black Friday Weekend 2018 - Donating not Discounting
While we know that many shoppers may groan when Black Friday hits the headlines again, we were extra excited about the event this year. For us, Black Friday (and the weekend following it) have turned into an opportunity to focus on the good, and more importantly on giving.
Sue Ryder is an organisation that does amazing work for the local community (Skipton) where our bricks-and-mortar shop is based. It's hard to find someone in the area without some sort of personal connection to our local Sue Ryder Manorland's Hospice and the work dedicated staff there do for those with life-limiting conditions.
That's why this year we are donating 20% of all sales from 'Black Friday' through to 'Cyber Monday' to Manorland's Hospice. This includes sales through our website and through our Skipton shop. Plus, for our UK-based online customers there's free delivery when you spend £20 - because we wanted to give something back to you too!
It's part of our mission to help make the world of retail a bit of a better place, for the people who make the products, the staff that sell them, and the shoppers who buy them. This year has seen some tough times on the high street, but there is also an argument that consumers are simply opting for fewer, more conscientious choices. We hope in the future more retailers will adopt a 'donating not discounting' approach to Black Friday weekend, born from confidence in their products and also the people behind them.
